We work from top to bottom across each curtain panel while it&#8217;s still hanging on the track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The steam penetrates deep into the fabric, killing dust mites and bacteria, breaking down embedded dust, and lifting odours from the fibres. The high-temperature steam (typically between 120\u2013150\u00b0C) kills 99% of dust mites and bacteria on contact. It also neutralises odours far more effectively than surface-level sprays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where dry cleaning has the edge is with heavy staining and particularly delicate fabrics. If you have curtains with significant staining \u2014 red wine, grease, mould \u2014 or fabrics like silk or velvet that respond poorly to any moisture, we&#8217;d recommend dry cleaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the vast majority of homes doing routine maintenance, however, in-home steam cleaning is perfectly adequate and delivers excellent results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;Do I need to prepare anything before the cleaner arrives?&#8221;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Very little preparation is needed, which is part of why homeowners love this service. Here&#8217;s what helps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Clear any furniture that sits directly in front of the curtains \u2014 side tables, lounges that are pressed right up against the window<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Move any decorative items on windowsills or nearby shelves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have pets, keeping them in another room during the clean is recommended<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure the floor space beneath the curtains is clear<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You don&#8217;t need to take anything down, move large furniture, or do any pre-washing. Light surface mould \u2014 the kind that develops on fabric near windows in humid environments \u2014 responds very well to steam treatment. The high heat kills active mould spores and, in many cases, significantly reduces visible mould.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For severe mould penetration \u2014 particularly where it has gone deep into the fabric or backing \u2014 we may recommend a specialised mould treatment or, in extreme cases, replacement may be the more practical option.
